Formula Charts by Tabco Optical
Tabco offers a complimentary service for the Smart Drilling System called
Formula Charts. Formula Charts are a graphical representation of the lenses as
they would appear on the patients face. All information required to process the
lenses are included; color coded drill bit size, vertical and horizontal
movements, hole placement and bridge width. Using this data, processing the job
is literally as easy as 1, 2, 3. All Formula Charts are available on CD and monthly updates are e-mailed to you with our monthly insert.
Technical support is available via email and
technical support during normal business hours.
Included with the service is free custom charting. If you encounter a frame that
is not in the database, send the frame to Tabco and we will create a chart and
return it to you with your frame. This service is free of charge.
With the purchase of a new Smart Drilling System you will receive access
to thousands of downloadable drilling coordinates for most rimless manufacturers
and frames. After 6 months, you may renew your access for $149 per year, which
includes a $149 store credit at Tabco good towards any of our optical products,
including rimless drill and router bits.

Manufacturer Provided Drill Charts
There are a several
ways to determine the correct procedure for placement of the holes in the
lenses. Most frame manufacturers supply drilling data with the frame.
Refer to the
Instruction Manual for our procedures on using this data with the Smart Drill.
Silhouette
Labs provides customers with an excellent, free source for Silhouette drilling
data. Every frame that Silhouette carries has all data necessary for drilling,
including horizontal and vertical movements, as well as drill bit size to use.
Drill Charts are in a downloadable format for easy printing and cataloging.

Layout Grid
Without a paid
service or manufacturer provided drilling data, the easiest way to create a
chart is by using the Tabco Layout Grid.

*Note* To print this file to scale, in print window set your
page scaling to none.
This grid allows you to take measurements either from the pattern or the demo
lens. Grids can then be saved for future reference. This way the exact
procedure can be replicated when working with the same frame.
